Seriously, they are fully managed RoR deployment solutions that happen to use VPS and the term “slice”. A very niche market I’ll say, that might not appeal to everyone. Something for those who lack Linux admin skills and just want to get their rails app up and running.
I noticed you via Google Analytics and wanted to come by and say “thanks” for sending people our way.
I hadn’t heard of you folks until today, and apologize for appropriating the term “slice.”
We use it to describe a slice of an entire cluster, including clustered filesystem, redundant infrastructure (switching, data storage, load balancing, etc.) rather than a single VPS.
As Scott mentioned, our target market is a bit different in that our customers don’t want to worry about Ruby on Rails deployment issues, particularly the delicate details of high availability and scalability.

They sure did copy the Rails logo, though!

And they have video-cast touring the data center! When can we have videos of tall programmer running into data center? :)

No problem Tom – just teasing. Love to see the RoR community benefiting from great new services. Good luck!
