Your prayers to the NOC gods have been answered! Earlier this week we turned up our second facility and started burning through the waitlist once again. What does this mean?

Current customers You won’t notice a difference, SliceManager handles all of this transparently. When you add a slice, it’s kept on the same local network as your other slices for fast communication. If you want to add slices at another facility for redundancy, the best way to currently do this is creating another account. That may change in the future, but we wanted to keep things simple to start. If you’d like to have slices in both facilities, send us an email and we’ll push you through the waitlist.

New customers It’s been a long and painful journey, but things will get better fast. We started tearing through the backlog this week and should get everyone onboard faster than the estimates on the waitlist page. Pretty soon, you’ll be able to tell all the newbies to wait patiently in line!

Future We’re pretty pumped because this is the fruit of several months of labor. These changes allow us to grow easily in both the short and long term. And we can get cracking on some swell stuff we’ve been dreaming up for the past several months.

  1. Too late for me! I’ve got a 256/20GB Xen machine at bigvps.com with 250GB in and out a month for $13 a month. No fancy web page or forum, but at least they were able to provide the service in a reasonable time! Highly recommended to any one else who can’t wait any more.

  2. That’s awesome news guys. I was considering bailing to somewhere else, but I’ll hold out a little longer :)

  3. Congrats folks. Love my Slicehost service and happy to see you are finally going to be able to keep up with the demand!

  4. Hey, nice to know that. Congrats for this big step! Keep up the good work guys.

  5. I got my slice a few days ago and couldn’t be happier :)

  6. Well disgruntled should be happy with his new service. I wonder, if he works for bigvps.com. Anyway, I was wondering where the new facility is located? The current one is located in Saint Louis right?

  7. The second facility is also in St Louis. In the future we’ll add another location for enhanced geographic diversity, but no timeframe for that.

  8. Glad to hear it! Waiting ever-so patiently :-).

  9. so, are all new slices going to the new facility? Any specs on the new vs datotel? As in – new one is better? Did you just run out of space in old data center? new one cheaper?

Just wondering what this addition gets u besides another spot to put servers.

    Thx! :-)

  10. New slices are going into the new facility for now. The new facility has Level3/Cogent bandwidth, with the other facility moving to Level3 soon there’s not a big difference. Reasoning was to meet redundancy requests for both customers and ourselves. We have several companies moving lots of physical servers onto slices, so it makes sense for them to spread them around for continuity purposes. Both places have plenty of room to grow, which we plan on doing.

  11. SAM, it is not surprising that people may have been forced to look elsewhere. I reserved my slice on 9/23 and had to find a subscription for a 11/01 launch. I was die-hard and waited until 10/31. I am happy with that subscription. However, I am also happy that my slice reservation was ready on 11/06. I still signed up with Slicehost in preparation for my next client.

  12. Like a Fat Kid waiting for cake im just excited about getting my slice!

  13. Nice lie, disgruntled.
